Up arrow to fill the input with the previous question

Sometimes i feel like I might need to slightly change the input to get a better reply. Instead of scrolling up, copying it and the edit, i find that just pressing the up key and have the input prefilled with the previous question would be much faster.

Personally, I would prefer up arrow to edit the previous response, since that feels more like how most chat apps (e.g. Discord) work, where as this functionality feels more like a command line.

Of course, the ideal solution is probably to add both and have a setting where the user can change the interaction to whichever they prefer.

Yes, this sounds much better.

As long as editing the previous question will also trigger a new prompt, I find this suggestion to be much more intuitive.

  This brings up another issue, which is that editing the previous question causes you to lose the model’s previous response, unlike ChatGPT where you can go back to it. I think I’m the only one to mention this and I’m surprised that more people aren’t talking about it.

  If I edit a previous message, I do expect all history after that to be lost. Otherwise I’d fork. Maybe it’s just you ;)

  Ohh, interesting. I don’t think we had the forking option when I made that suggestion. By the way, how do you fork? Is there a button for it somewhere?
