Increase PDF Upload Limit & Implement User Quotas

The current PDF file size limit is too restrictive for documents. I suppose it’s currently below 8MB?

Instead of a file size limit, would it be possible to implement a user-based quota system and increase the maximum file size? This would allow users to manage their storage needs while still being able to upload larger, essential documents.

Thanks,

I need this. What most ai platforms do poorly with right now is reading pdf’s. I would really suggest looking into pinecone for text parsing from PDFs it works better than anything else I’ve seen so far.

I would use a chatbot that can read tabulated data between two large pdfs for product comparison and cross over a ton!

I work in sales so I often have to make my way through 300 plus page catalogs to find part numbers and look up specs. I’ve tried to make a custom gpt for this but almost all of them hallucinate to the point where it’s not very useful.

Pinecone is the closest it’s gotten.

All that to say please increase file size and try to make it read PDF’s better.

It would be so useful, espececially with the new massive context size on gemini 2.5 pro, I used it a bit on the gemini app for larger files, and it works pretty good, and on t3, I’ve used 7.5 mb files and they work amazingly

I agree 100%! The increased context size on Gemini 2.5 Pro is a game-changer, and it’s essential for T3 to handle larger PDF files to fully leverage this expanded context window. On a related note, I’ve noticed that the size of a PDF file doesn’t always correlate with the number of tokens in the document. For instance, in my experience with bank reports, the file size can be significantly larger—often 15-20 MB—due to design elements like high-resolution images, color depth, and other formatting features, rather than the actual text content.

100% agreed. I was recently using gemini to review Strata reports for buildings. They tent to be quite large. I had to switch from t3 chat to gemini (on gemini.google.com). Would have loved to do that analysis in T3 chat directly.

Agreed, 8MB is a really big drawdown for the app.

Idk whats the limit on Gemini but at least 50MB per file would be interesting

    PDF file too large

I am trying to upload a 28.9 mb pdf to Gemini and got an error about the file being too large.

What is the max file size?

And can you increase the limit? I am able to use this pdf on the google ai playground and the Gemini app idk why I can’t use it here.

      Currently 8MB for pdfs

      > Can you increase the limit

      Considering this, also file compression.

        Any updates on this?

We’re working on some changes to increase the efficiency of atttachment storage, after which we shioudl be able to increase the limit on PDFs.

Honestly am about to churn because I’ve had to compress my files so many times - I stopped reaching for t3.chat as much just because OAI and Anthropic have larger file size upload limits

Expanded limits for attachement sizes so it should be less of an issue now.
