Archiving chats, Trash folder for deleted chats
Generally I don’t really want to permanently delete my chats in 90% of cases
So there should be a Trash they are moved to when deleted
Then deleting chats is safe and simple and you don’t have to worry about deleting something useful
There may be three deletion options:
Delete permanently (for chats you don’t want to save)
Trash (for chats that have no use but you may still want to search in them in the future to refind found stuff)
Archive (for useful chats you don’t need now)

I agree, this is useful for chats that I don’t find useful right now but may unexpectedly come in handy in the future.

100% needed in my opinion

Yup, I think archiving chats should be an option. Especially after threads, I have waaaay too many tabs open…

I’d love to have this. I don’t like a cluttered sidebar and it would be nice to just archive the chats and be able to revisit them later.

I see myself using the “Brench chat” feature a lot to rerun some prompts and each of them have interesting things, I would like to be able to archive the older ones (not delete) in case I want to compare in the furere.
Rn I just have like 3 branches with the same name while I am trying to get the right thread, and I would like to hide the old ones without having to delete them to avoid confusion

Yeah, i really need it!

Merged request
Trash bin which holds deleted threads for X amount of time then deleted
It happened to me couple of time where i delete a thread but after a couple of days turns out i’ll need it again, this would resolve this issue.
also thanks

What annoys me right now is having a confirm dialog everytime I press delete for conversation I consider non important. Having a trash bin would make it possible for the X not to show a popup each time and just put it in the trash right away. When it’s a mistake, the person could recover from the bin.

You can multi-select and delete from https://t3.chat/settings/history
from the sidebar, if you shift+click the
xbutton, you will not be prompted to confirm.Agreed that archive/recovery would be a nice improvement/addition.

Good to know, but not what I’m looking for. I’m not doing this in batch (it would be useful in that case I agree)
Before making a new conversation, I consider if I care about the currently open one or not. If not, I prefer to delete it. The additional modal dialog is very intrusive.
If you don’t want to remove it yet, making a small popup box besides where the X was would already be a massive improvement.

In that case, the second suggestion I offered should help? By shift+clicking the button you will not be prompted and it will be immediately deleted.
making a popver near the button instead of a modal could be a nice improve though as well.

Ah! sorry, I somehow didn’t process the second sentence. Indeed it works, thanks! I don’t know if I ever saw such a pattern in an app in the past. Maybe it should be mentioned in the dialog/popup.
Thanks a lot!
