Unable to delete chats

Bug Reports

Screen flickers (seizure inducing) and asks cannot delete chats. If I click on the “Confirm” button the chat does not delete and continues to flicker. I’m left with no option but to click on the “Cancel” button to cancel the delete at which point the screen stops flickering. This happens for both pinned and non-pinned chats.

    This bug only happens on Firefox. I tried using Chrome and the screen does not flicker and I can delete chats.

    Update: I've diagnosed the behavior further. This appears to be a "layout thrashing" or "hysteresis loop" specific to Firefox.

    1. The flickering persists in Private Mode and with OS animations disabled.

    2. My display is standard 1920x1080 at 100% scale.

    3. The Fix: Manually resizing the viewport breaks the loop and stops the flickering.

    It looks like the modal's centering logic or overflow: hidden toggle is fighting with the scrollbar visibility, causing an infinite reflow loop at specific viewport widths. AI explained as:

    1. The Trap: At your full screen size (1920 pixels wide), the code for that pop-up box landed on a mathematical "edge case."

    2. The Argument: The browser was arguing with itself:

      • Step A: "If I center the box here, I need to show a scrollbar."

      • Step B: (Shows scrollbar) "Oh wait, now the window is narrower, so I don't need the scrollbar."

      • Step C: (Hides scrollbar) "Wait, now the window is wider, so I need the scrollbar again!"

    3. The Fix: By dragging the window to make it smaller, you forced the browser out of that specific "mathematical trap." You changed the numbers enough that the browser could finally decide "Okay, the scrollbar definitely stays off," stopping the loop.

      Very strange. We have not recently changed anything with the modals, so I wonder if this is a recent bug in firefox/Zen?

    I can’t tell when the last update on this was, but I can confirm this bug is still happening. I am on Zen 1.17.15b (Firefox 146.0.1) (64-bit) PopOS 24.04

    Update: I did some testing and deleted most of my existing chats to get rid of the scrollbar and that also stopped the issue.
