Threads hanging after first message
This is occurring on GPT-5 and DeepSeek R1, so I assume it’s happening with every model: I ask the initial question and the model returns a response. The thread appears in the left pane but it just says “New Thread” and has a loading spinner that never goes away. When I type a second message into the chat prompt and hit return it does not send or do anything else, so I cannot continue the thread from there.

Yeah I have this happening as well and after each message I have to press stop to send my next prompt. I am using GPT-5 haven’t tried anything else yet. In this screen shot you can see the response from the model is done but we’re stuck in generation mode or something and the stop button is still showing

Can you try logging out and back in to see if the issue persists?

Got it, I am pretty sure I know the cause here, and we have a fix coming soon that will address this.
It appears to be related to auth token refresh sometimes not working correctly, which is very annoying as we have not found the specific cases where it happens. We are moving our auth to a more robust system soon to hopefully make this a non-issue.

I am not seeing this, nor seeing a notable increase in error rates. Are you still having this issue? Do you get any error messages in the browser console? Can you share some chat IDs where this happened?

No errors in the console log. I’ve noticed too that none of my chat history was showing up in those instances and now that I’m back home I am not having the issue, and my chat history is showing up (though none of the problem sessions in the screenshot are there). I’m wondering if it’s an issue specific to my work computer or work network. I’ll try the computer from home tomorrow and again from my office on Monday and see what I can observe.

I was finally able to try again at work and I am no longer experiencing this issue. Not sure what was going on. Looking at my chat history, only one of those threads that were hung is showing up; the rest apparently did not save. I don’t know how to get the chat ID though, so please let me know if you still want it.

EDIT2: Although, now that I think of it, this is probably the chat I tried when I got home to see if I was still having the issue. It would seem that none of the chats that were hanging actually saved to history.
