This might sound ridiculous, but I think it would be nice to also be able to actually save the chat (even though you started it as temp) if you decided the conversation is valuable enough to keep later. Maybe the threads button could be used to do this.

A lot of my chats are just one message long, so something like an opt-in toggle to save chats to history? Maybe auto-delete chats after a certain period, and let us disable auto-delete for specific chats

One feature I'd like to see is the ability to choose how the LLM should behave in temporary chats.
I often use temporary chats to ask the LLM to proofread, improve, summarize, or fix grammar.
It would be great to have an option, like a dropdown menu, to preselect a "system message" that defines how the LLM responds.

I think this sounds like a great feature. Like saving different pre-defined instructions for different workflows. I think you could make a separate feature request for this, as it seems to apply for all chats, not just temporary ones.

yes. this please. I often either have sensitive questions or mostly one-off questions that I don’t want to see in chat history. There’s many a time I turn to ChatGPT just to use the temporary chat. Would make me only use t3 chat if it had this feature.

Sometimes I use this in ChatGPT for small code snippets, which it’s great for. But occasionally the “temporary chat” gets larger than I intended, so it may be worth it to let the temporary chats branch into a real chat. The risk with this approach is it assumes the temporary chat is kept server side (like ChatGPT), which may defeat the purpose of it being temporary. Depends on how it’ll be implemented though.
