The entire sidebar repaints on every scroll tick. Styles are recalculated on every scroll tick, and it takes 30ms (!?!?!) on a Ryzen 5600x

What the f. There are 2 css variables that are updated on every tick, via react state management. This is used to update the css mask-image property which is not something that should ever be applied to a scroll container.

Removing the mask-image property still results in the entire sidebar content being re-rendered in React on every scroll tick.

Which OS and browser are you using?

Idk about this guy, but wrote my specs above

Fedora Linux 40 using Hyprland with Brave and Google Chrome

Same problem using Windows 11, although less noticable because the Windows 11 PC I was using is more powerful, but still feels slower than ChatGPT.

I get the same scroll lag issue on Chrome Windows 11 and Safari iOS

Having the same issue. My specs - Windows, Chrome browser. Hardware isn’t a problem, currently having Ryzen 5700x3d, RTX 3070, 32gb ram.

    Resizing sidebar causing freezes too

Looks like some calculations in sidebar depend on device type or window managing or smth. Otherwise it would rerender every time on every device emulation in chrome
