I concur. Thought I’d recall this being the default a few updates ago, but recently I’ve noticed myself having to expand the reasoning for thinking models more often when Gemini 3 Thinking were adopted.
Personally, it’d be best to add the option under Preferences as Always show reasoning. Would also be nice to notify this option when the user expanded reasoning text >=3 consecutive times in a session.

Sorry, seems I got a different context. I was typing this response with the context of the model generating a response, not opening existing threads. Similar to how Auto-expand toggle functions in Sillytavern.

Also, it would be nice if it could be toggled from the bottom of a reasoning “message”. It’s a bit of pain having to scroll up each time to close it
