Search only works when enable search

Hello,

I don’t know if this work normal, but in Chatgpt web app the model knows when to search, so if I ask: Does the second half of the season have been less good for Mo Salah? when I choose Gemini without pressing the ‘search’ button it answers that it doesn’t have access to data, but when I send the prompt with search button enabled it does have access to it. In Chatgpt web it automatically searches the web. Is this standard behavior I have to manually press the ‘search’ button for the app to get access to internet? Models: Gemini 2.0 & 2.5
