More Keyboard shortcuts please!

Feature Request

I’d like to see more shortcuts.

A few things that I really care about are:

  • Changing the model (It would be nice to use the same keyboard shortcuts as in the cursor chat so we have some parity) → This is very important to me!

  • Toggle the sidebar — CMD/CTRL + B

  • Toggle settings

    A shortcut for enabling web search would also be super nice imho!

    We are somewhat limited in the available keyboard bindings without conflicting with browser defaults, but we definitely do want to have these when we have a desktop app. Will see what else I can add on web though!

    If you navigate the sidebar with your keyboard (tab through chats) there are keybinds for:

    [p] - pin selected chat

    [backspace] or [delete] - delete chat

    [e] - edit title

    Alt+1-9 seems like a good hotkey that doesn’t conflict

    I made this user script in tampermonkey for this, it’s not perfect and could be improved but it’s very usable: T3 Chat Keyboard shortcuts
    it maps:

    • alt+s → toggling search

    • alt+k → selecting the kth model on the dropdown menu

    note that this only works when the short version of the model select dropdown is enabled and not the long one. This could be improved to allow defining shortcuts in the beginning of the script, or by allowing more friendly shortcuts, for example mapping keys to models, instead of the order of the model in the dropdown.
    Note: Please T3 Chat give us proper keyboard shortcuts to not have to write hacky scripts like this, and please don’t do like many restrictive apps do and go out of your way to stop this from working

    Please add this! It’s bearable when a provider has a few models, but not when you’re wrapping 10+.

    You can toggle the sidebar using CMD+B

      My bad. I can’t believe I missed that. I don’t see an option to edit the sidebar part of the suggestion

    Hot keys to navigate the webpage would be a god sent, I’m sorely missing hot keys to enter the text area/chat bar, stop generation, and copy the last message.

    Being able to navigate between threads with hot keys would also be very appreciated. Feels very clunky to be typing and then having to move my hand off my keyboard to do whatever it is I need to do.

    Something that would also be helpful would be slash commands like /search. I have a full list(The last one is obviously a joke):

    • /search - Toggle web search

    • /${model name} - Changes to that model and/or re-sends last message to that model

    • /new - New chat

    • /retry - Redo the last turn

    • /edit - Edit the last message (Idea from this comment)

    • /lm - Change to lightmode to prank people who didn’t see this comment, would be nice if the description said “We don’t know what this does, try it!”

    Also, it might be helpful for some people to put a question mark at the bottom right corner for keyboard shortcuts and slash commands(Yes, I got inspiration from a competitor with good small features but having the main part be unusable)
