Switch models with keyboard
implement a shortcut to open the model switcher and then navigate with arrow keys to select models. would make the process of switching a bit faster imo

It would be great if you could map individual models to specific keys too.
⌘⌃1 for 4o, ⌘⌃2 for Claude…

Not sure if here’s okay, or should write as a separate suggesion:
Typing something like
@gemi…and selecting the model I want to switch to, exactly like mentioning users in a chat app, would be a dream come true.Amber Beach
Cursor has ctrl+/ to cycle through your pinned models which works really well for me
Moccasin Wobble
If I may suggest something, just a CTRL+K and a fuzzy finder for the model name would be okay.
CTRL+K or CMD+K on Mac and “Gem” and already most of Gemini models start populating the box that’s good enough for us to navigate quickly I think. Plus, its very aligned with that other stuff we see in the business designwise
Pink Rice
This would be an amazing useful thing to have.
Teal Lightbulb
I would really like a way to do this. My preferred method (now that we toggle the models in the switcher) would be using ctrl + up and ctrl + down to go up and down the list without opening the selector (optionally being able to change the order in the settings>models)

a nice add on to this would be shift+cmd+/ to select a model from a text box to directly select which model you want to use
Gold Beaver
Although I have mouse movements and clicks bound to my split keyboard, I’d prefer to not have to use them..
Gold Patch
came here looking for this. I like to switch between all kinds of models quite a bit as a find a groove with certain ones. I’m not opinionated about the binding, but I’d like to open the model selector/search with the keyboard

I’m biased towards having ctrl+’ as a kbd shortcut to switch models, it’s what’s used in continue.dev
