Gemini with 2 dollars signs cost more than claude with 3 dollars signs on same prompt

Claude sonnet 4.6 on default settings costs less than Gemini flash 3.5 on default settings, Even though Gemini flash 3.5 has 2 dollars signs.

    The $/$$/$$$ indicators are only a general guide. Actual cost depends on what happens during the run and can't be known until the model finishes responding. As a result, a model with fewer dollar signs can sometimes cost more than one with more dollar signs on the same prompt.

      Also after checking the actual costs of those requests, Claude was more expensive:

      Gemini: 0.012576

      Claude: 0.030099

      It looks like the Gemini request had a higher initial estimate, but once the request finished and settled, it came out lower.

          Yes. the over-estimate it returned to your balance once the response completes and we have the updated actual cost
