Chat Text Field Full Screen/Scaling Option

Feature Request

In short, this would allow the text field for user queries to be put in full screen or manually be expanded to be larger vertically.

I personally would love this as I type out very detailed and intricate prompts along with appending large files, logs, etc.

Yup. I can’t guarantee we wont change the shape of the DOM which can break things like this, but it’s totally fine to do this!

Yeah it makes a way easier to read if the styling would use the full width of the screen.
At the moment im currently overriding the styling of the site by removing this:
.max-w-3xl { max-width: 48rem; }

and while its not perfect (chat input box is a bit funky), it certainly means the screen width is used for the chat response, making it way easier to read.

When writing big complex texts in chat it would be useful to have expand button or dragable chat window size by height up to full height. This would negate the need to jump between some text editor of full size and chat. This feature is missed in both ChatGPT and Claude.
This of course would raise problems when there is already some chat going on (past first message) as it might be on top of it. Maybe it should automatically gradually expand to full size only on first message as this is most likely to be the biggest.

This would be a significant upgrade. Sending large amounts of text is quite common these days, and it would be great to have the space to work with it!

I agree, the ability to expand the prompt input area would make managing more extensive prompts far more streamlined and easy. Would greatly appreciate this being added and feel it should not create to massive a workload for the developers. Essentially a button that expands the input field according to the constraints of the display.

I would also love the option to increase the chat width, as someone who primarily uses this on a desktop for asking programming relating questions
